Meet Our Dental Staff

Dr. John Kwant is a native Utahn. He was born and raised in the Holladay area, but considers his real home to be in the mountains. As a youth, he would disappear and go exploring along the hills of the Wasatch Front, with Millcreek Canyon being one of his favorites. This knowledge of the local trails and paths helped him later in life when he was part of Salt Lake County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team. His love of the outdoors hasn't diminished with time and you will still find him wandering in the hills looking for a new route and looking out for the local wildlife. Wildlife conservation is one of his passions and he actively participates in it locally and internationally. Dr. Kwant graduated from the University of Utah and attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Immediately after graduating, he joined the United States Air Force and completed an intense residency at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. After Keesler, he was stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana. He was there during the September 11 attack and spent many long nights in the dental clinic getting airmen ready to deploy. Dr. Kwant served as the forensics officer while on active duty and was called upon several times to use those skills. After separating from active duty, he joined the 419th Medical Squadron, Hill Air Force Base, Utah and served as a reservist and the dental commander for several years. Besides dentistry, Dr. Kwant's other great love in life is his family. He and his amazing wife, Cindy, have two little boys with curly red hair. Johnny (5 yrs) and Andy (2 yrs) have as much energy as nuclear power plant and keep everybody at the Kwant home busy and young. If you ever need to reach Dr. Kwant and he doesn't answer the phone, he is probably outside playing red rover or tag. So, come on by, join in and have some smores and he'll talk about all things dental or whatever else is on your mind.

Dr. Townsend was homegrown in Utah in the East Millcreek and Holladay area. After completing a 2-year mission in Brazil, he attended the University of Utah where he met Katie, whom he wed in 2010. He attended Creighton University Dental School in Nebraska where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. During dental school, Dr. Townsend received awards for his knowledge and skill set in both endodontics and implantology. While he and his family enjoyed their time in the plains of Nebraska, they were eager to return to their home in the mountains of Utah. It was here that Dr. Townsend served veterans at the George Wahlen VA in Salt Lake City. Here he worked alongside specialists and mentors while completing a General Practice Residency (GPR), training in advanced endodontics, prosthodontics, implant placement and IV sedation. He gained a great appreciation for those who have served and fought for America's freedom. Currently a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of LDS Dentists, Academy of General Dentists and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, Dr. Townsend is committed to lifelong learning and is constantly seeking to improve so he may better serve his patients. Dr. Townsend and Katie now have two sons, Carter and Cooper. As a family they love doing things little boys love like riding bikes, reading books (especially on dinosaurs) and watching Carter's favorite movie, Finding Nemo, over and over again. Dr. Townsend and Katie also enjoy watching college football, attempting new culinary recipes and playing one of the games in their extensive board game collection. Dr. Chandler Townsend is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Dr. James Spartacus Capecelatro was born in Jacksonville, FL and was raised in Utica, NY. He attended the University at Buffalo where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Medicinal Chemistry and a Doctorate of Dental Surgery. During his dental education, Dr. Cap contributed to Good Neighbors - a local charitable dental clinic. He also contributed to the American Academy of Developmental Medicine & Dentistry, providing dental care to athletes at the Special Olympics. Dr. Cap is committed to staying up-to-date and continually furthering his education as an active member of the American Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Cap chose to move to Utah to be closer to his brother, John and to enjoy the great outdoors. In his free time, he can be found fly fishing, mountain biking, or snowboarding. He is dedicated to always being there for his patients, answering calls from the river or the chairlift.

Dr. Frye grew up in Ashland Kentucky, a small Appalachian town on the Ohio River. She attended the University of Louisville for her undergraduate degree in Biology. She then attended the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. During dental school, she was selected to participate in a summer international dental program in Krakow, Poland at Jagiellonian University Medical College. Dr. Frye received exceptional training in the disciplines of dentistry, including prosthodontics, endodontics, operative, periodontics, oral surgery, and oral pathology. Dr. Frye's value in continuing dental education led her to attend the University of Utah General Practitioner Residency at the University of Utah Hospital. There she was able to build on the different disciplines of dentistry and gain skills in implantology, cosmetic dentistry, and hospital dentistry. Dr. Frye is an active member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Academy of General Dentists (AGD), Alpha Omega International Dental Society (AO), and American Association for Women Dentists (AAWD) and has a clear passion for providing exceptional care for her patients. Outside of the office, Dr. Frye enjoys playing tennis, hiking the beautiful Utah mountains, learning to ski, and cooking new foods with her Fiancé, Adrian. Dr. Frye looks forward to providing excellent dental care to her patients at Abundant Dental Care

Dr. Grant was born and raised in the foothill area of Salt Lake City. He attended high school at Highland High where he played soccer and won the defender of the year award his senior year. After high school, Dr. Grant served a mission in Quebec, Canada where he learned how to speak French and how to serve others. Afterwards, he attended Brigham Young University where his love for the sciences was grown. He majored in Physiology and Developmental Biology. While attending BYU, Dr. Grant met his wife, Madison, and they are now married with two little boys named Bennett and Casen. Following his studies at BYU, Dr. Grant attended The University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry where is originally from. Although Dr. Grant loved Oklahoma, he is excited to be a dentist and raise his family close to where he grew up. Some of the things Dr. Grant loves most about dentistry are meeting new people and helping others achieve a happy and healthy smile. Outside of the office, Dr. Grant loves playing sports, working out, and spending time with his friends and family.

Dr. Clifford has been practicing dentistry since 2012, but has been a part of the dental community his whole life. His grandparents and parents were involved in the dental field, so he knows his way around a dental office! Ever since he was young, Dr. Clifford has sought continued education in all fields of Dentistry. He has already completed extensive training courses in Cosmetic, Implant, and Orthodontic services. Dr. Clifford is a Southern California native. He attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where he received his bachelor's degree in business management. It is also where he met his wife Breanna Clifford. He then continued his learning at the USC School of Dentistry in Los Angeles, CA, where he received his DDS. Dr. Clifford then moved back to Utah to raise a family. He has a beautiful daughter, Claire, and lives in Cottonwood Heights, UT. For the last 5 years he has worked in a private practice in Salt Lake City, UT. Dr. Clifford loves the outdoors and all kinds of sports. He loves his USC Trojans, and to spend quality time with family and friends. He served a LDS mission in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he became fluent in Spanish. He loves learning and keeping up with the latest technologies for his patients. He strives to be the best dentist you will ever have. Dr. Casey Clifford is fluent in English and Spanish.

Dr. Chris Procopio was born in Southern Texas and raised in Fort Collins, CO. He was raised in a large Italian family and was the middle son of 5 brothers. It was among the hustle and bustle of his home life and the teachings of his late parents, that he discovered his desire to spend his life in the service of others. He spent his early summers backpacking through the Rocky Mountains, rafting down the Poudre River, and enjoying late night family dinners. After graduating high school, in a pursuit to fulfill his passion for service, he left for South America to serve an LDS mission spanning both Paraguay and Argentina. During his two-years spent abroad Dr. Chris had the opportunity to not only attain fluency in Spanish but understand the importance of selfless service. Dr. Chris went on to complete an undergraduate degree at Brigham Young University’s Marriott School of Business where he earned his Bachelor of Science. During his studies he met and married his wife – who, at the time, was studying to be a Dental Hygienist. A passion for dentistry and service had then become a theme for Dr. Chris’s family. Dr. Chris attended Roseman University’s College of Dental Medicine located in Riverton, UT. He was exposed to all facets of dentistry including operative, endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery. It was during his time at Roseman University that Dr. Chris and his wife Chelsey brought two wonderful children into the world, his 3-year-old daughter, Cecilia, and 1 year old son, Miles. As a dental family, they love talking about dentistry at the dinner table, working together to broaden their knowledge and skills. When working with Dr. Chris you will have his entire family advocating for you. Outside the dental office you will find Dr. Chris and his family enjoying Utah’s scenic outdoors, serving in their local congregation, hosting board game nights, or attending one of the many advanced dental training courses for mastering the skills needed to serve you best.

Dr. Hilton was born and raised in Texas, and while he has now spent the majority of his life in other places, including Tennessee, Utah, Los Angeles, and New York City, he still considers himself Texan at heart. From a young age Dr. Hilton carried a deep interest in medicine, and having observed his father cultivate a successful neurosurgical practice in San Antonio, he learned early on the level of hard work, discipline, and concern for patient well-being required of an effective practitioner. Dr. Hilton attended Brigham Young University from 2007-2011 and from there obtained a bachelor of science degree in biology. He then completed his training in Dentistry at the highly ranked New York University College of Dentistry, a program renowned for its advanced clinical curriculum. From there, he received exceptional comprehensive training in the various disciplines of dentistry, including prosthodontics, endodontics, operative, periodontics, oral surgery, and oral pathology. Dr. Hilton values his dental education highly, and since his time in New York has continued to immerse himself in a pursuit of continued education and learning. Outside the office, Dr. Hilton pursues a variety of interests. He enjoys sports, particularly basketball and snowboarding. He also loves to travel, and his favorite vacation spot is the Alaskan coast, where he and his father have gone several times over the years for salmon fishing. Dr. Hilton is also an accomplished pianist, and has a passion for musical composition, recording, and performance.

Kenra Peterson is a Registered Dental Hygienist that comes to Abundant Dental Care with 10 years of patient care experience. Kenra is a native of Utah and loves to spend time developing relationships in the community and enjoying all the outdoor activities that Utah has to offer. Kenra has held many professional roles; including owning and operating a deli/catering business with her twin sister.

Dr. Yejin Ahn was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea and her family immigrated to the U.S. when she was 9 years old. Dr. Ahn spent the rest of her adolescence in a suburb of Philadelphia and moved to Utah in 1998 to attend BYU. After her freshman year, Dr. Ahn served a mission in Concepción, Chile for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and later graduated from BYU with Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Dr. Ahn then moved to San Francisco to attend University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. Dr. Ahn and her husband Alex moved back to Utah after dental school to build their family, and they now have 4 children. She and her family love spending time together outdoors, riding bikes, camping, and taking road trips!

Dr. Schultes was raised in Sackets Harbor, New York, a small town on the shores of Lake Ontario. She attended St. Lawrence University where she graduated with a bachelor degree in biology. She then attended the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine during which she provided free dentistry through Remote Area Medical, served in the Special Needs Dental Program at a local Buffalo hospital, and participated in outreach events for veterans, children, and special populations. Care and compassion for patients is at the very center of her work. She sees every day as an opportunity to help others achieve goals, improve health, and stay smiling. Her joy for service fuels her desire for lifelong learning in the dental field. Outside the office, Dr. Schultes loves spending time with friends, family, and facetiming her niece and two nephews. She enjoys attending cycling classes, hiking, skiing, and exploring Salt Lake City restaurants.

Dr. Jennifer Crespo is originally from Puerto Rico. Fluent in both Spanish and English, she obtained her dental degree from the Ibero-American University in 2005 before completing her general practice residency in Ohio from 2009 – 2011. She also recently earned her Implant Certification by the American Academy of Implant Dentistry at Roseman University in Utah. Dr. Crespo is a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, Academy of General Dentistry, and American Dental Association. She believes there is nothing more fulfilling than serving a human being, and is committed to restoring the oral health and transforming the lives of her patients. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her daughter, reading, trail running, hiking and skiing.

Dr. Dubin was born and raised in Southern California. After serving a 2-year mission in Oklahoma, he attended Brigham Young University Idaho where he received his Bachelors degree in Exercise Physiology. He then completed his training in dentistry in Boston Massachusetts, at the Henry M. Goldman School Of Dental Medicine where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Dubin loves dentistry and providing high quality care for his patients. Helping patients achieve their goals and attain confidence in their smiles is his favorite part of being a dentist. In his free time, Dr. Dubin enjoys playing hockey, snowboarding, riding his motorcycle, watching Formula 1, and spending time with his pup Griffin.

Dr. Marangeli Pagan-Guzam grew up in Puerto Rico, and received her dental degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine in 2011. After practicing for five years in her own dental office in Puerto Rico, Dr. Pagan and her family decided to move to New Jersey, were she practiced for another five years as a general dentist at Dental Care Alliance. Dr. Pagan is an active member of the ADA and continues to stay current on all the latest dental procedures through her frequent Continuing Education attendance. Dr. Pagan, her husband and her two daughters moved to Utah in 2022, so that she and her family could enjoy all of the wonderful activities that Utah has to offer, including hiking, biking amongst other outdoor activities! Additionally, Dr. Pagan loves to attend Crossfit every morning before coming into the office.

Dr. Jeremiah Ferrin was born and raised on a Native American colony in Elko, NV, but spent much of his teenage and young adult years living in various parts of the Salt Lake valley. After serving a 2-year mission for his church in Mexico City, Mexico, he attended Utah Valley University for his BA in Spanish and minor in chemistry where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. It was at UVU that he met his wife, Kellie, with whom he now has 2 amazing children. He attended the University of Southern California for dental school where he helped direct USC's mobile dental clinic in providing children of low-income and migrant families with much needed dental care, earning a community service award for outstanding dedication to continue the vision and reflect the heart of USC’s Mobile Dental Clinic. Dr. Ferrin and his family have since left the sunny beaches of California, relocating back to Utah to continue his journey of life-long learning and education. Dr. Ferrin has a passion for helping others through dentistry and commits to providing his patients with legendary care. When not caring for his patients, Dr. Ferrin enjoys spending time with his wife and children, trying new foods with his wife, reading, playing table games of any kind, both board and card games, and spending time with other family members and close friends. Dr. Ferrin comes from a blended family with 15 siblings and over 40 nieces and nephews, so he has become accustomed to living a fulfilling and joyful life amidst the craziness that a large family inevitably brings.

Dr. Smith was born and raised in Sandy UT. He attended Hillcrest high school. He attended the University of Utah with a degree in Medical Biology. He received his Doctorate degree from the University of Louisville school of Dentistry in 2009. Dr. Smith has practiced in Sandy Utah, and was an Associate Professor at Roseman University College of Dental Medicine. He loves working with his patients, and genuinely loves practicing dentistry. His passions are Dental Implants, Wisdom Teeth removal, Root Canals, and changing entire mouths. Dr. Smith is married with 4 children. His main hobbies are his wife and children. His family loves the Newport Beach area in California, or any beach for that matter. He loves weight training, exercise and when there is “spare” time, he loves golf.

Dr. Karishma Sitapara grew up on the east coast in Rockville, MD. She attended the University of Pennsylvania where she graduated with honors with a degree in the Biological Basis of Behavior and Healthcare Management. She then went on to receive her dental degree from Columbia University in New York City. She furthered her training by completing a General Practice Residency program at Hackensack University Medical Center in NJ, a Level 1 Trauma Center where she gained experience treating and managing medically complex patients. Prior to moving to Salt Lake City, Dr. Sitapara practiced dentistry for 5 years outside of Philadelphia, PA treating a greatly underserved population. Dr. Sitapara is dedicated to providing quality care to her patients, serving her community, and learning the latest techniques to better treat her patients. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Sitapara loves spending time with her family, traveling the world, and exploring new cuisines.

Dr. Trever Keele was born and raised in Reno, Nevada. He received his B.S. in biology from Brigham Young University. He attended dental and business school at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he obtained his Doctorate in Dental Medicine and Master of Business Administration degrees. He was awarded a certificate in general dentistry following completion of the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program through the University of Texas School of Dentistry. He practiced for many years in the world renowned Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. While there he was on staff with the Methodist Hospital and an assistant professor at the University of Texas. He is a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, a recognition achieved by less than 5% of dentists. Dr. Keele is affiliated with various professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Utah Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. Outside of dentistry Dr. Keele loves sports, both as a fan and a participant. He and his wife, Heidi, have one daughter and two sons. In their spare time they can be found reading, biking, fishing, skiing, and attending the performing arts. Dr. Keele enjoys developing personal relationships with his patients and is passionate about creating both functional and beautiful smiles. Whether it is helping a patient become free of pain or completing cosmetic procedures, he finds satisfaction working with his patients to assist them in achieving their unique oral health care goals.
